After earlier reports that the government shutdown would cancel this weekend's Military Academy football games, officials have announced that arrangements have been made for the games to go on as scheduled.

Unfortunately for their military brothers and sisters overseas, they won't be able to watch the games on TV. In fact, they won't be able to watch any sports on TV as long as the government is shut down. The American Forces Network, which broadcasts American programs to military personnel around the world, had to be shut down as well. Only one news channel is up and running.

The AFN promises to restore normal programming as soon as possible. But for now, no NFL, NHL or Major League Baseball playoffs for troops overseas.  (Deadspin)
