Cole Swindell on New Song "Break Up In The End" & New Album | EXCLUSIVE

Following his last seven consecutive No. 1 singles, and previous You Should Be Here album, Cole Swindell has returned with a brand new song called "Break Up In The End," the lead single from the country singer/songwriter's forthcoming third album.

"Break Up In The End" was written by Jon Nite, Chase McGill and Jessie Jo Dillon. Cole began teasing the song earlier this week on social media, and tweeted about the song, "This is one of those songs from the first time I heard it I knew it was special. So many people can relate to the lyrics. Even though I didn’t write it I’m amazed the best writers in town are bringing me songs like this. Excited it’s the first single from my new album."

On what "Break Up In The End" means to him

During an exclusive interview with iHeartRadio, Cole explains that although he's a songwriter, he's thrilled to have some of the best songwriters in Nashville sending him songs to record. And after he heard "Break Up In The End," he was so moved that he knew he couldn't pass it up. He explains of releasing his the song:

"I'm kind of an anxious. I get excited just like anybody does and I want to get new music out there. It's been two years since my last album and I think it's time for new music, but you usually have the new music several months before you actually get to put it out. So, just holding on to it, trying not to tell too much about it and just waiting to put it out is tough for a guy like me. But I'm just glad to have new music and know that we're about to get to share this song with the whole world And hopefully they react to how I did the first time I heard it."

On what fans can expect from Cole's upcoming third album

Cole explains that choosing the first single for an album is a tough choice, after narrowing down the track list to 12 to 15 songs. But he looks for the song that will be most impactful. However, despite the heartbreaking nature of "Break Up In The End," there will be a wide variety of songs on the record. He explains:

"We're gonna have the fun stuff. I think that'll always be. I love to have that because I think about my live show as well, when I'm recording an album. We need those moments, like, the 'You Should Be Here' moments, but also we need the fun moments, and the ones that are gonna get everybody dancing. I think country radio has allowed me to release both kinds of songs. So, this album is ... We're gonna have the fun stuff, but also there's gonna be songs that are like my new single, 'Break Up in the End.' There's gonna be ones that just make you think and, and say, 'Wow.' I think people are gonna want to know who wrote every song, just like I did when I heard 'em."

On his headlining Reason To Drink Tour

Cole recently kicked off his first career headlining Reason To Drink Tour, traveling across the country, and joined by two of country music's biggest rising stars, Chris Janson and Lauren Alaina. He explains of headlining the tour:

"When you finally get to headline, your own tour, you want to make sure you've been the opening act, and you know you've been in charge of getting the people up, and and getting them ready for the headliner. And I think now that I get to take two artists out that I really believe in, I'm friends with, Lauren Alaina, Chris Janson. For my first headlining tour, I don't know how I could ask for a better lineup. I mean, both of them are phenomenal in their own right. They both put on great shows and [are] both great writers/singers. It's just a fun, fun tour. And I think the fans can just expect a good time."
