Skittles fans enjoyed the taste of five classic flavors in their bags starting in 1979 that included lemon, lime, orange, grape and strawberry but in 2013 the lime flavor was ditched for green apple and the same fans have been griping ever since. They even went as far as taking their displeasure to Change.org with aBring Back Lime Skittlepetition and it looks like their prayers were answered as Skittles has changed course and is permanently replacing the green apple with lime.
There was also a discussion on Debate.org on which flavor was better and 70% of the people preferred lime over the green apple. OneReddituser said, “People hate the green apple because they don’t expect it. It’s like biting into an oatmeal raisin thinking you are getting chocolate chip,” while another reader of theDaily Iowansaid “(I) refuse to buy Skittles, until they bring back Lime. Single person boycott {sic}, going 7 years strong.”
Look for the new packs with the lime-flavored Skittles to show up on store shelves next month and throughout the fall.
