Thomas Rhett teased a new version of one of the heartfelt ballads that appears on his latest studio record, which serves as a tribute to his wife, Lauren Akins. The new twist adds a rising singer-songwriter recently recognized in CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2025.
Rhett teamed up with Lanie Gardner on a duet version of “What Could Go Right.” Gardner — who joined the ranks of Lainey Wilson, Kelsea Ballerini, Lauren Alaina, Carly Pearce and many other Next Women of Country alumna when she joined the Class of 2025 — commented on Rhett’s sneak peek on Instagram, “freakin’ love [Thomas Rhett] and his music so… it’s pretty dang cool to be a part of this 🔥” The sneak peek ends with “3.21,”indicating the duet version with Gardner will arrive on Friday (March 21).
“What Could Go Right” was one of 14 tracks that appeared on Rhett’s seventh studio album, About A Woman. The record also included “Overdrive,” “Gone Country,” “Beautiful As You,” “After All The Bars Are Closed,“ and more. The country star previously said he aimed “to exude joy and fun…and really just make people move.” He said he dove into the album-making process with “a fearless attitude,” and created a collection that’s “about one woman, my wife, and it gave me an opportunity to say ‘I love you’ in a lot of different ways.”
Rhett is part of the star-studded lineup of the 2025 iHeartCountry Festival, which is slated to take place on Saturday, May 3. The festival, hosted by iHeartRadio’s Bobby Bones, will return to Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Other artists in the lineup include Brooks & Dunn, Cole Swindell, Rascal Flatts, Sam Hunt, Megan Moroney, Bailey Zimmerman and Nate Smith.
Hulu will be the Official Streaming Destination of the festival, with performances livestreamed exclusively to all Hulu subscribers at no additional cost.
