Dierks Bentley revealed how he attempted to escape a revenge-seeking ex-girlfriend in a new behind-the-scenes video he shared on Wednesday evening (April 9).

Bentley posted the behind-the-scenes look at his music video for “She Hates Me,” the anthem he released on Valentine’s Day. He wrote the song — described as “somewhere between Whitley and Weezer” — with Ashley Gorley, Ross Copperman and Chase McGill. Bentley opened the behind-the-scenes look with “a lot of fake whiskey” (he was served shots of tea while filming), and went on to show how he avoided getting run over by a car, and more.

“We were goofing around with this idea before diving into our next ‘serious’ song, really just trying to make each other laugh. It just fell out, and I didn’t think much more about it after that,” Bentley previously said in a statement. “But then it really came to life in the studio, and then my kids were requesting it and then I was getting texts from friends who had heard it, so I started taking it more seriously! I love any opportunity to laugh at myself – especially my younger self, and ‘She Hates Me’ definitely provides that. I can’t wait for my fans to see the music video!”

Bentley is getting ready to kick off his 2025 “Broken Branches Tour” with singer-songwriter Zach Top and Georgia duo The Band Loula. The first show is slated for May 29 in Austin, Texas. Bentley previously said he’s “got a million ideas for the set list rolling around in my head. It’ll be fun to figure out how to make it all come to life with a new album and new production.” See the list of tour dates below.
