When you’re a kid, spending the night at a friend’s house is one of the most fun things you can do. Especially if it’s a sleepover and lots of friends are there. But as much as kids love them, sleepovers are not so much fun for the parents. And that’s why moms and dads everywhere are embracing the “late-over” as a sleepover alternative.
A “late-over” is exactly like a slumber party, minus the sleeping over part. So kids get together, do all the fun activities usually included at a sleepover, and then go home before bed. Kids get to enjoy a craft, watch a movie, eat pizza - the sleepover food of choice - and even change into PJs for the fun, and then get picked up about nine, just in time to go home and hit the sack.
With a late-over, kids can even bring sleeping bags over to watch the movie in, so they get all the fun of a sleepover, but they actually sleep afterwards because they go home to their own beds. No more little ones having to fake a stomach ache in the middle of the night because they’re homesick and don’t want to stay over.
Plus with late-overs, parents get to sleep, too, and that makes everything better. No wonder these are a mom-approved kid favorite.
