POLL- AGREE THAT GEORGE IS A BAD NAME FOR A BABY GIRL? COMMENT BELOW!

It’s never easy choosing a name for your baby, and picking the right name is causing some major drama with one couple.

A man shares on Reddit that he and his wife have been arguing over their baby’s name, calling it "definitely the weirdest situation that's come up during our relationship.” He says that originally he and his wife were thinking of more traditional names for their baby girl, but thn his wife informed him she wanted to name their daughter “George.”

The OP at first thought she was joking, but the wife wasn’t, noting she thought it would be "unique and cute.” He was not down with it at all, especially because he believes it “will lead to a lifetime of bullying.” He adds, "I can see our daughter hating us when she's older for forcing her to deal with a name that made her a target for bullies, and she would be within her rights if she did.”

The wife wouldn’t budge, which led to a lot of arguments, and eventually the husband telling his wife, “only a lunatic would think naming a girl George is a good idea.” This did not go over well with the wife and it’s causing some major drama. He even suggested Georgia or Georgina instead, but the wife is not okay with that.

He doesn’t think he really did anything wrong and asked Reddit for their opinion, and the responses were mixed.

  • Many took issue with the way he talked to his wife, with one noting, “Disagreeing and discussing is fine, calling her a lunatic makes you the a**hole."
  • Others didn’t see the problem with naming the girl George, “Go read a Famous Five book. George, short for Georgina, had been a girls nickname since forever."
  • But some don’t think the OP is all that wrong.
  • “If she won't even consider the variant to George like Georgia, she is being weird and stubborn,” one person commented. “Your child will likely not enjoy being called George growing up."
