If you and your besties are looking for the perfect destination for your next girls’ trip, the search is over. The amazing house from the movie “Steel Magnolias” is now a bed and breakfast and your squad of wannabe-Southern belles will love it.
The “Steel Magnolia” House is located in Natchitoches, Louisiana and it’s the very same one featured in that tearjerker movie from the ‘80s that we love so much. Guests can stay in rooms named for the characters Clairee, Ouiser, Shelby, Jackson, and Annelle. And the Shelby room is even pink - or should we say blush and bashful - it was her signature color, after all.
The sweeping Southern estate was the real-life home of Robert Harling, the playwright who created the original stage version of “Steel Magnolias.” The story is based on his sister’s death from diabetes complications, just like the protagonist Shelby.
Here you can lounge in the backyard where the wedding reception took place with that awful red velvet armadillo cake. And ascend that stunning staircase to the the front parlor where you can enjoy a glass of sweet tea in the same spot as some of your favorite characters and check out relics from the movie and other memorabilia. And of course, plenty of Southern hospitality.
