Starbucks will be closing more than eight thousand company-owned stores in the afternoon on May 29th for “racial-bias education.” The training is meant to prevent discrimination to make sure everyone feels safe and welcome.
Of course, this stems from the arrests of two black men at a Philadelphia store that sparked nationwide backlash. According to company officials, nearly 175 thousand Starbucks employees will learn about implicit bias, promoting conscious inclusion and preventing discrimination.
The training will also become a part of the Starbucks hiring process and will be available for other companies to use.
