- Los Angeles Police Investigating Hippo Spankings: Los Angeles police have launched a criminal investigation after a video surfaced of a man climbing into a zoo enclosure and slapping a hippopotamus on the behind. The zoo has now posted a “No Trespassing” sign in addition to calling the police. “Every animal is different and we don’t know exactly what they were thinking,” says zoo spokeswoman April Spurlock. “But, It’s an invasion of the trust we work so hard to build with these animals.” While police aren’t investigating for animal cruelty, they are looking for the trespasser.
