Rumors About Morgan Wallen's Female Duet Partner Swirl After Cryptic Teaser

Social media commenters have been buzzing with guesses since Morgan Wallen confirmed his highly-anticipated studio album will include his first-ever duet with a female artist.

Now, many of them seem convinced it’s a pop star who appeared to share a cryptic clue on her Instagram story on Tuesday (April 15).

Wallen confirmed the duet in a rare response to a post on X, formerly Twitter, last week. Someone asked the country star: “[Morgan Wallen], please please PLEASE confirm ‘What I Want’ is a duet. You haven’t yet sang with any female artists on any of your first three albums, so PLEASE tell me this is the case.” Wallen simply replied: “Indeed sir.”

Since then, Wallen has kept fans guessing rather than revealing the identity of his mystery duet partner. Some commenters have named Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Ella Langley and Megan Moroney, among many others. TikTokers particularly wondered whether a Wallen-Moroney collab was on the way when Moroney referenced Wallen’s viral phrase, “get me to God’s country,” which he said after abruptly leaving Saturday Night Live. Wallen said on April 10, “I haven’t seen one person guess the female collab on this album correctly yet.”

Now, fans think it’s a pop artist because of a photo she shared on her Instagram story on Tuesday. It’s a close-up image of an orange jersey — presumably University of Tennessee — with the initials “MW” near the neckline and “T8” printed on the front of the jersey.

Did Wallen team up with Tate McRae?

Neither artist confirmed or denied the rumor as of publication time.

McRae’s teaser arrived the same day Wallen confirmed he has another collaboration with Post Malone on the way. The “I Had Some Help” duo will join forces again on “I Ain’t Comin’ Back,” which is slated to release on Friday (April 18). It’ll be the latest song to release from Wallen’s 37-track studio record, I’m The Problem, following the title track, “Just In Case,” “I’m A Little Crazy,” “Love Somebody,” “Smile” and “Lies Lies Lies.” I’m The Problem arrives on May 16.
